Whether the market of ideas and media, or the market of goods and services, internet platforms create incredible market innovation and efficiency. Yet critics argue its achieved by co-opting open markets and regulating institutions. In digital media, two competitors comprise 80% market share. Opponents claim proprietary algorithms amount to market coordination, promoting content engagement over legitimacy for self gain, while aggregated personal data enable vector targeting for its repetition.
